Civil Society Bureau Mailing list

This mailing list representes the discussions and activities of the UN World Sumnmit on the Information Society (WSIS) civil society bureau (CSB).

The institutional mechanisms, which were developed during the WSIS Process since 2002, do not continue directly. As such, the civil society bureau (CSB) is seen to have dissolved and completed its task.

The role of the CSB was to facilitate civil society participation in the Summit. As a facilitating body, the Bureau addressed questions linked to procedure, leaving content related issues up to caucuses and thematic working groups. As of 21 February 2003, the CS Bureau was comprised of various "families" that were seen to represent different constituencies within global civil society.

Each family had an organizational focal point, whose role it was to inform the family about updates regarding the evolution of the WSIS preparation and to facilitate input from various family members into the overall process.

This mailing list was created for discussions, dialogue and comments from WSIS Civil Society Bureau (CSB) bureau members. The composition and membership of the CSB is maintained at the following URL -

It's archives are open for all to read. The archive address is at: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/public/bureau/
