Dear Claire,

Thanks very much for the list of candidates being supported. I appreciate the tough decisions that the CSD had to take. More details on where these candidates are coming from and their organisations or families would have been helpful, as I'm sure not all of us know everybody. I seek clarification in terms of the criteria for LDCs again as my understanding is that donors would like to see local representation from such countries in Geneva? Or does that not matter?

I am also surprised that we had proposed a candidate from Bangladesh but another candidate is being sponsored. Please explain.

  Dear Members,

  The final choice for PrepCom3 fellowship attribution has now been made.

  We did our best to ensure equitable representation, however it was difficult because of the following:

  -          Most of the Bureau's propositions were for non LDCs.

  -          The PrepCom3's main objective is to finalise the Plan of Action. In attributing fellowships, priority had to be given to those experts who have made a contribution, however that was not the case.

  -          We did not receive nominations with an order of priority.

  PrepCom3 will take place for 12 days but the active participation of civil society will be needed most the first week. In order to ensure more financial resources for the Summit itself we will cover the cost for 10 days, from the 14th to the 23rd of September.

  You will find below the final list of the fellowship recipients for PrepCom3.

  Le choix des bousiers pour le PrepCom3 est maintenant terminé. Nous avons du prendre une décision finale car :

  -          La plupart des propositions faites par le Bureau étaient hors PMA.

  -          Le PrepCom3 sera consacré à la négociation du plan d'action. Il aurait été souhaitable que les nominés soient membres d'organisations ayant fait des contributions écrites, ce qui n'était pas le cas.

  -          Nous n'avons pas reçu de véritables nominations avec des priorités du Comité de sélection, il nous a donc été très difficile de faire un choix en respectant les critères des donateurs et nous avons fait de notre mieux pour assurer le meilleur équilibre de représentation

  Bien que le PrepCom3 se déroule sur 12 jours, la participation active de la société civile sera surtout sollicitée la 1ère semaine pour présenter nos propositions sur le plan d'action. Afin de disposer de ressources suffisantes pour que d'avantage de boursiers puissent participer au Sommet lui-même nous assurerons une prise en charge sur 10 jours, du dimanche 14 au mardi 23 septembre 2003.

  Vous trouverez ci-dessous la liste des personnes qui bénéficieront d'une prise en charge pour le PrepCom3.
