Thanks for this information, Claire. Strongly suggest that all the four candidates be women and gender advocates. As this was one of the main reasons we wrote to SDC. Asia Pacific will submit at least five names in priority ranking.

    This is indeed very good news. This means all balance funds can be spent on DC fellowships, and we will receive an additional CHF16,000? So how much in total are we talking about? And how many fellowships would this mean?

      We are pleased to inform you of the following decision taken by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) today, Tuesday 25 November.

        1.. An additional amount of CHF 16'000 will be put at the disposal of the Civil Society Secretariat, to be used for the funding of DC representatives.

        2..  SDC authorizes the use of any remaining funding (after deduction of fellowships already attributed) as per the existing contract for DC rather than LDC representatives.

        3.. SDC is willing to consider funding representatives coming from countries that are NOT on the list of DC given to the Civil Society Secretariat earlier (this refers to the case of Argentina).

        4.. Should the Civil Society Secretariat come to the conclusion that for reasons of adequate and knowledgeable representation of civil society it be necessary to award fellowships to civil society representatives coming from other countries, SDC awaits a respective email request to which it will answer favorably.

      On that basis, we await your recommendations on the selection of the fellows for Asian and Latin American DCs.  Please send the list of names by order of priority (1.2.3.) keeping in mind that to be fair, these applicants must have sent a formal application before 25 October and be part of an accredited entity.

      To be in a position to process the requests (travel, visas, etc.), Claire Chombeau must absolutely receive your suggestions before Wednesday 26 November 12 AM Geneva time.   If we do not receive the appropriate information by that time, we will distribute the remaining fellowships to maximize the largest geographical representation possible.

      Sur cette base, nous attendons vos recommandations sur la sélection de boursier des PVD d'Asie et d'Amérique Latine.  Veuillez envoyer vos listes de noms par ordre des priorités (1.2.3.), en gardant à l'esprit que par souci d'équité, ces candidats doivent avoir envoyé une candidature officielle avant le 25 octobre, et faire partie d'une entité accréditée.
