I'd like to follow-up some of the points I raised in my posting last week.
Ongoing issues that i'm keen about -
* Virtual Participation
The type of virtual options include, but are not limited to the following:
* Teleconference
* Online chat - using instant messaging (IM) , IRC or another media
* Virtual meeting - I don't know what the options are, for me Derrick
is the expert on this one and ask that he tell us what's possible.
* Preparations for PrepCom 2 -
- Status of ongoing discussions:
(a) Public Voice teleconference - held last week. Renate sent her
regrets, leaving Sean, Ramin, Viola and myself as the only bureau
participants. I was expecting Adina to participate on the call, as it
would have been good for her to introduce herself and give a quick
update as to what she's doing. I would hope she can participate in
future calls.
(b) European & North America Caucus - I've posted a message to
related mailing lists as well as to my WSIS blog to the effect that
we need to start planning in a collaborative and open fashion.I've
posted a # of items that , at this moment, i think are important to
start planning for. A few people have sent comments which i'll post
later this week when I have some time.

(c) Geneva level preparations - Thanks for the accommodation list ,
the updates related to the recent meetings and status of the
cybercafe and internet request Francis raised earlier.
i've been asked by several people in my caucus about the process of
reserving meeting rooms both at PC2 as well as the summit in Nov. if
an online reservation/request system could help - do let me know as I
can very easy install something like this.
* Online Resources -
it would be , i think, very good to have a set of online tools to
help us plan and organize for the upcoming meetings. Setting up a
site takes time, so - ideally - it would need to be done before the
prepcom ...
(a) website - no updates nor news have been posted. Again, i would
like to state that i would be more than happy to host a website and
other free and open source planning and project management resources
for the CS bureau at the following domain name - www.wsis-csb.org
As well, i can provide mailing aliases for the bureau members so that
we all can have @wsis-csb.org addresses. The addresses would in turn
be forwarded to whatever email address you actually have.
A mock-up of what the site could look like is here -
http://www.wsis-csb.org . It is using a genuine, 100% Free and open
source system. if others can offer the same - please do mention it.
(b) Blogs & Wiki's - Andy Carvin is keen to move forward on this and
has offered space on the DDN network to make it happen.
He's trying to find funding, for developers to put together a news
aggregation site, and a set of bloggers to report on the summit
activities. This would be great !
* Funding for PrepCom 2
Is there any news on new sources of funding that may have been found
to allow CS to be able to attend and participate at the prepcom ?
I ask this, as the CRIS Campaign has announced some funding -
http://www.crisinfo.org/content/view/full/611/ If they can find
funding, perhaps the folks in Geneva can as well? Having the CSB
fundraise not only for itself, but more importantly for CS as a whole
would be very, very appreciated by our CS collegues.
* Bureau methods & communications....
Sigh. Has anyone responded to Adam's message from a few weeks back?
It is frustrating to have us start discussion on important topics and
then just leave them hanging.
Issues of the CSB's legitimacy are made by Sean and others and we
seriously try to answer their concerns. To not do so will only lead
to further criticisms...
