Dear CS Bureau members, 

 

As you may know, CONGO organized in the past Orientation and Information
Sessions for NGOs at the beginning of Conferences, such as we did for WSIS
PrepCom-2 in February this year.

 

In the perspective of the preparation for WSIS PrepCom-3 in September in
Geneva, CONGO intends to organise such an Orientation Session one day before
the opening of the meeting, on Sunday 18 September 2005. 

                             

We would like to see the CS Bureau more involved in the preparation of that
Orientation Session. Therefore we would appreciate if you could send us your
comments related to the organisation of such an event.

 

We have received today a note from the Executive Secretariat on the
estimated cost of room-booking at the ITU. Actually CONGO will probably have
to pay for the room and other facilities since this does not come into the
budget of the ES. 

 

We urgently need to think of this from now on in order to prepare this event
in due time, including the room booking since it would be on a Sunday.
Indeed participants will probably not be able to come in Geneva a long time
in before the opening of PrepCom-3. For that reason it will not be possible
to hold this session at the Palais des Nations, and we need to find a space
available outside of the UN. Therefore, we have to send urgently an official
letter to ITU SG Mr. Utsumi requesting such a room.

Chers Membres du BSC, 

 

Comme vous le savez, la CONGO des Sessions d’Orientation et d’Information
pour les ONG au début des Conférences, tel que nous l’avions fait en Février
cette année pour le PrepCom-2 du SMSI. 

 

Dans la perspective de la préparation du PrepCom-3 du SMSI en Septembre à
Genève, la CONGO a l’intention d’organiser une telle Session d’Orientation
un jour avant l’ouverture de cette réunion, Dimanche 18 Septembre 2005. 

 

Nous voudrions voir le Bureau de la Société Civile plus impliqué de la
préparation de cette Session d’Orientation. Ainsi, nous apprécierions si
vous pouviez nous faire parvenir vos commentaires liés à l’organisation d’un
tel évènement. 

 

Nous avons reçu aujourd’hui une note de la part du Secrétariat Exécutif sur
le coût estimé de la réservation d’une salle à l’UIT. En effet, la CONGO
devra très certainement payer l’utilisation de cette salle et des autres
équipements, puisque ceci ne rentre pas dans le budget du Secrétariat
Exécutif.

 

Nous avons besoin de toute urgence de penser à cette question dès
maintenant, afin de réaliser à temps la préparation de cet évènement, et
notamment la réservation de la salle, puisque la réunion d’orientation aura
lieu un dimanche. En effet, les participants ne seraient probablement pas en
mesure d’arriver à Genève longtemps avant l’ouverture du PrepCom-3. Pour
cette raison, il ne sera pas possible de tenir cette réunion au Palais des
Nations, et nous devons trouver un espace disponible à l’extérieur des
Nations Unies. 

Ainsi, nous devons envoyer très rapidement une lettre officielle au
Secrétaire Général de l’UIT, M. Utsumi, pour demander la réservation de
cette salle.

Queridos miembros de la Mesa de la SC,

Como saben, CONGO organiza una Sesión de información y Orientación para las
ONGs al inicio de una Conferencia, como lo hicimos para el PrepCom-2 en
Febrero de este año.

En perspectiva de la preparación del PrepCom-3 de WSIS en Ginebra en
Septiembre, CONGO pretende organizar dicha Sesión de Orientación un día
antes del comienzo de la junta, el domingo 18 de septiembre 2005.

Nos gustaría ver a la Mesa de la SC mas involucrada en la preparación de
esta Sesión. Por eso apreciaríamos mucho si nos pudieran enviar sus
comentarios en relación a la organización de este evento.

Hoy hemos recibido una nota de la Secretaria Ejecutiva sobre el costo
aproximado para reservar una sala en el UIT. CONGO pagará probablemente por
la sala y por otras facilidades ya que esto no entra en el presupuesto de la
SE.

Es urgente la necesidad de pensar en esto desde ahora para así poder prepara
el evento con el debido tiempo, incluyendo la reservación de sala ya que
será en domingo. Debido a que los participantes no podrán llegar desde antes
a Ginebra para el inicio de la PrepCom 3, la sesión no se podrá llevar a
cabo en el Palais de Nations. Entonces hay la necesidad de encontrar un
espacio disponible afuera de la ONU. Por esta razón tenemos que enviar
urgentemente una carta al SG UIT Sr Utsumi pidiéndole la sala.
