The status that I was last aware of is that it is proprietary software
that requires a proprietary Java Runtime Environment (SUNs) to work.

Both are k.o. criteria for Civil Society use IMHO -- although there
may be more.

IMHO, if we want to evaluate tools, we should go from needs to tools,
not the other way 'round. And we should only consider those that do
not compromise our principles and do not threaten our political
independence by putting us under control of any proprietor.
