Tracey:
I had wanted to reply to Francis's earlier email - but didn't as it
needed a longer more elaborate reply, something i didn't have time
for at the moment. Seeing you message is a delight - I agree with it
100%
Two keep points you raise - pointing out that the Bureau through it's
intervention - already - obtained an extension, and the deep level of
concern that we are being sided-steped and ignored as a
multi-stakeholder partner in the preparations leading to the summit.
In about 2 weeks, May 12-15 to be exact , there will be a high level
WSIS meeting here in Canada. It's an INVITE only conference where the
focus is on Civil Society. I've just learned that two Tunisian
officials will be there as well - The Tunisian ambassador to Canada
as well as the Tunisian Minister of communications (who just happens
to be "on tour" in the USA). I would be more than happy to approach
these two officials on behalf of the CSB. The minister of
communications is likely the most important of the two .
That being said - before I approach them on behalf of the CSB - i
need to have the CSB develop and agree to a position that I can
present. I'll set a deadline of this coming friday - MAY 6. I
request the CSB members on this list to start a discussion and come
up with one or more items, issues or documents for me to raise (or
not) by the May 6th date. NO EXTENSION is POSSIBLE.
regards
Robert
