I've heard from groups in India, south america and numerous caucus -
all submitting things on time. Others - and there are many, haven't
realized the deadline is so far in advance. Any extension would be
most welcome.
How effective an extension would be all depends on the organization
of the event itself - and to my knowledge the Tunisia/Swiss team has
been quite closed as to how it's doing things. Transparency isn't
there - and it should be. The unknown selection criteria and process
is a problem and will be a problem.
The CSB had requested to be involved - we aren't, and decisions are
being made without us. Let's lobby , push and mobilize so that the
parties in question (the ITU and the Tunisians) get the point we are
upset. Perhaps they will listen and involve us - let's see.

a CSB workshop isn't possible as the deadline has passed. If it can
be changed /extended - then great. A Round table - i think is a very
a good idea. For one, as it's much higher profile and video archived
for posterity. Having a round table as Wolfgang proposed would be
great. let's see if we can get not only Cardoso, but perhaps even
Annan himself. With all the discussions and proposals on UN reform it
would be good. Something worth pursuing - but something i'd really
wait to get Renate's views on, as she considerable more experience
and insight on the UN and how effective (or not) such a Round table
would be.
