HAVE PROBLEM!

http://www.wsis-online.net/smsi/classes/won/projects/won-projects-472992/project-view
Merci
Francis

Hello
It seems that the rigid attitude against the deadline extension is
flying right back in the face of one its most adamant promoter.
I understood the argument that the CS want to behave like a responsible
partner, abiding by the deadlines but we must not be
masochists !.
Being reponsible partners, means also we shall try to attempt to defuse
potentially explosive situations and not jump to the conclusion
that an event has been censored from the outset.
1/ the May 5 date that I mentionned was the grace period concerning
adding precisions to a the request that have been sent by the deadline.
I just sent a mail tonight saying that we need more time.
2/ It has been posted on the list maintained by the French Government
to interface with the Civil Society that the French Government has
requested a deadline extension until May 15.
3/ The rumors that I gathered in Geneva on May 02, is that this request
is likely to be granted.
Therefore, I am proposing that
a/ the CSB should request from
the joint organizing comittee that the CS
should benefit from the same deadline extension as the longest one
that has been granted to a Governement (ie at least May 15,
It is hightly likely that many other governments have requested deadline
extensions ).
This request for equal treatement would not jeopadize the precious
status of respectable and deadline-abiding partners that some would like
to promote at any cost.
b/ the CSB should request that the deadline for bringing precisions
to a request sent by the deadline be at least May 30 ( or the deadline
for filling new requests if this deadline extends after May 30 ).
Furthermore, and this time some persons are going to be ill placed to
give lessons to others about deadlines !
I would like to ask the CSB to kindly consider again :
1/ write an addendum to the
the B2B document concerning the the question of renting the conference
halls and the precisions concerning the internet access and
virtual conferencing capabilities that I voiced in a previous message
and that Renate, Viola, Ramin bring those questions of crucial practical
importance in their May 12 meeting.
2/ using the new version of WSISonline site
where Bertrand was kind enough to open a project page
http://www.wsis-online.net/smsi/classes/won/projects/won-projects-472992/project-view
"Inventory of Planned Civil Society Events in Tunis".
so that the CS could get organized with the same tool that is probably
getting to be used for the WSIS in Tunis.
Personally I have no time for this.
I would rather suggest that Renate, Tracey, Viola
( alphabetical order ! ) should
manage this Inventory in the name of the CSB.
Any other volunteer for this task will be welcome.
3/ Propose a CSB event tentatively called
"The CSB and the institutionalization
of the relationships between the CS and the UN"
Thanks
Francis
