[CS Bureau] TR: CSB recommendation for CS fellowships at PC-3

Dear Sean and all,

The choice has been made by the WSIS ES, based on the CSB recommendation.
Mr. Geiger mentioned that it is not possible for ITU to give fellowships to
two participants from the same country. As you can see it in the result of
the CSB consultation, Mr. Salim received one more recommendation than Mr.
Bazlur, and I believe that this is the reason for the choice operated by the
Executive Secretariat at this stage.

I believe that AHMED BAZLUR of the NGO Network Radio & Communications has
been consistently active in the WSIS, both at home and externally. I cannot
speak for R. Salim, but it would be a pity to leave out Ahmed. How has the
choice been made?

Unless there is a compelling for R. Salim, I think we should reverse the
choice. However, if there is then its fine.

Dear all,

Please find below the e-mail I just received from Charles Geiger.
Therefore, the list of applicants recommended by the CSB and endorsed by the
WSIS ES might be read as follows:

>From the LDC participants, we cannot give 2 fellowships to participants from
the same country. Therefore we have selected:

R. Salim (Bangladesh)
Mballa Moussa (Senegal)
R. Amegnikpo (Togo)
S.C. Kabenge (Zambia / Namibia. The Media Institute for Southern Africa has
its HQ in Namibia, according to our accreditation list)

Regarding the persons from the structure, we agree with

Robert Sagun (Youth)
Olinca Marino (Latin America)
Tracey Naughton (Media)
Magaly Pazello (Gender)
Sohrab Razagghi (Middle East and Western Asia)
Delphine Nana (Africa)

Since was the last e-mail regarding the CSB consultation of the fellowship
attribution procedure for PC-3. We will inform the CS plenary of the overall
process and of the final recommendation from the CSB.
Note however that this list is the recommendation endorsed by Mr. Geiger,
Executive Director of WSIS, but not the final decision yet. This final
decision would be signed by Mr. Utsumi and would be announced very soon.

Thank you very much for your participation in this consultation and best
regards,

Dear Mr. Dam

This is to inform you that we accept the proposal of the CS Bureau to give
one fellowship to Mr. Robert Sagun instead of Ms. Akinsanmi.

Dear Mr. Geiger,

Further to our recent discussions, and since Ms. Titilayo Akinsanmi, from CS
Wouth Caucus and CSB Member, is not applicant for CS fellowship, I would
like to inform you that the CS Bureau strongly supported, in addition to the
five other names you previously mentioned, the application for fellowship of
Mr. Robert Sagun, co-facilitator of the CS Youth Caucus and active
participant both in the WSIS proper and in engaging youth and stakeholders
in his Asian region (http://www.wsisyouth.org/phase2-who.php).

Please also note that Mr. Sagun’s selection would ensure a better
geographical repartition of CS fellowships.

We thank you very much for your attention and your cooperation.

Best regards,

Philippe Dam

Objet : FW: Liste Bourse

Charles Geiger

Directeur exécutif SMSI
