[CS Bureau] re: Urgent request for confirmation of accreditation

Dear WSIS colleagues

 

I am writing with an urgent request for ECPAT International to be included on the official list of NGOs accredited to the WSIS. 

 

We do not appear on the list of accredited NGOs handed out with the registration packs. This will create significant problems for us in seeking speaking slots and lobbying governments in support of our submission, and in gaining support for our side event.

 

ECPAT was accepted as accredited to the PrepCom-3 and this phase of WSIS back in June. We supplied the registration form and have received a registration password for ECPAT. I have pasted the relevant emails from the WSIS-ES below.

 

I hope you can help with this urgently. Thanking you in advance.

I confirm the information given to you by Johanna. As you have Special consultative status since 2004 with ECOSOC, no accreditation is needed. But for our internal information, may we ask you to fill out the form which is on our website at 

http://www.itu.int/wsis/docs/accreditation/ecosoc-form.doc

and send it to us by fax. No need for any annexes.

I am writing to inquire whether the WSIS Secretariat has received ECPAT International’s expression of interest in participating in PrepCom-3 and the summit of the Tunis Phase. The ECOSOC form was faxed and emailed to the Secretariat on June 27, 2005. 

 

ECPAT is waiting for a room allocation to hold a side event at the PrepCom-3 but the CONGO-WSIS civil society secretariat says it cannot process that request as it has no record of ECPAT’s accreditation or request to participate. 

 

I would appreciate any help you can provide.
