The CSB executive secretariat could annonce this event on the
plenary list, after having (possibly) received more
info on this series of events.
It would be interesting to know
the topics of the next "Shaping" workshops.
It is regreetable that no translation is available.

Dear Sir/Madam,
As part of the Shaping Tomorrow’s Networks Programme
<http://www.itu.int/stn>, we are pleased to invite you to an
international workshop entitled* *“*Market Mechanisms for Spectrum
Management <http://www.itu.int/spectrum>*”, to be held in Geneva
(Switzerland) from 22-23 January 2007.
In line with the stated objectives of the WSIS Tunis Agenda for the
Information Society (November 2005), which says that “… ITU and other
regional organisations should take steps to ensure rational, efficient
and economic use of, and equitable access to, the radio-frequency
spectrum by all countries ….”, *ITU* (Strategy and Policy Unit and
Radiocommunication Sector) and the *Ugo Bordoni Foundation *will jointly
organise a workshop to identify global trends and good practice in radio
spectrum management.
The workshop will examine, /inter alia/, the use of market mechanisms
for both primary allocation of spectrum (e.g., auctions) and for
secondary trading. It will look at recent trends in ITU Member States,
the increasing demand for spectrum and will examine future challenges in
developing policies for access to radio spectrum. Thematic papers will
be commissioned in advance of the meeting, and will form the basis for
discussion.
The workshop will be held in the same week as the Radiocommunication
Advisory Group (RAG) of the Radiocommunication Bureau, to be held from
24 January to 26 January 2007, organised by the Radiocommunication Bureau.
More information about the RAG can be found at:
http://www.itu.int/ITU-R/index.asp?category=conferences&link=rag&lang=en
<http://www.itu.int/ITU-R/index.asp?category=conferences&link=rag&lang=en>
Please find attached the draft programme as well as the practical
information for the meeting. Regularly updated information concerning
the meeting can be found on the ITU website at
http://www.itu.int/spectrum .Written contributions are welcome and can
be submitted via the website. Online registration for the event will
open on 1 November 2006. You are invited to register for the event at
http://www.itu.int/osg/spu/stn/spectrum/registration.html
We hope you are able to accept our invitation to participate in this
workshop and can join us in January. If you have any questions or
require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Ms.
Cristina Bueti and Mr. Marco Obiso at spectrum at itu.int
