Dear all
It is suggested that the CSB should continue, what it did
during all the two WSIS summit phases, ei to organize
Civil Society meetings. It is one of its role.
Since it happens that all CSB liaison officers
(Renate and Viola) and the CSB
executive secretariat (Renate, Philippe ) are all present
in Athens,
it is suggested, jointly by Djilali, Jean-Louis, Divina
and me, that the CSB should organize
Civil Society plenary meetings at the IGF,
may be on Wednesday or Thursday evening.
If there is a consensus or a strong majority
in favor, then the CSB should
request the liaison officers (Renate and Viola) and the CSB
executive secretariat ( all are present in Athens )
to contact Markus Kummer towards this end.
I contacted informally Adama and Karklins, both
agreed on the principle to make a speech
at CS plenaries.
It is also suggested the CSB should support
the Open Letter of ACSIS.
I believe the answer of Kummer was very astute
but for all practical purposes, this is a NO without
any financial justification, because the IGF has got money
from the Swiss government and ICANN.
In the light of the current luxury of the venue, money
could have been better spent on scholarships
by the Greek government.
Best
Francis
