> the best, and free-est, way to obtain all sorts of software is to do
online
> searches. Or get into Linux and watch the world unfold.

At http://freshmeat.net/browse/99/ there is a listing of over 1000 open
source Graphics, Sound/Audio and Video projects many of which are free and
*nix based but some Windoze stuff too.

As Fee said, http://www.tucows.com is good for software downloads and
searching in http://www.google.com (incidentally, this is the only search
engine worth using for anything). http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/ is
pretty cool as well. I don't know what
http://www.completelyfreesoftware.com is like but with a name like that
it's worth a look.

There is a very comprehensive library of computer music and audio resources
available at http://www.sonicspot.com

Last but not least, SonicCart (a radio scheduling and playout application)
developed expressly for Ipswich Community Radio and the rest of the
community media sector is available for free at
http://www.babyfishmouth.co.uk
