"When you think disability, think zeitgeist. I'm serious. We live at a time
when the disabled are on the leading edge of a broader societal trend toward
the use of assistive technology." - Wired Magazine
Who's really disabled? The person who's deaf or blind or the society that is
unable to involve or communicate effectively with that person? At Vitamin-e,
we believe the internet could be just the thing to help society overcome its
disability hang-ups.
We're looking for pioneers - e-nablers - who want to create digital
solutions to the divide between society and the disabled. If you've got
ideas, skills, enthusiasm, time or resources you can begin by joining us on
30th January.
If you already have ideas for projects let us know in advance and we'll see
what we can do to help turn them into reality. And if you're already doing
work in this area, get in touch and we'll see what we can do to help
publicise your project through Vitamin-e.

A survey of 900 non-profit organizations has revealed that most still host
flat websites and do not have well-planned email strategies, leaving their
stakeholders "disconnected". A report published by The Gilbert Foundation
highlighted four key findings: 44% of organizations have email addresses for
fewer than 20% of their supporters; 64% of organizations do not collect
email addresses on their web site; 75% of organizations cannot survey their
stakeholders online o 78% of organizations do not have an email strategy.

What does it take to design & fund an effective communications strategy
Communications is much less about the technology or medium chosen as a
vehicle and more about advancing the cause of your organization. An
effective communications strategy reflects your organization's mission,
goals and objectives, and is well integrated into daily operations.

The future has been a concern of humanity since the days of the Delphic
Oracle and Nostradamus. In the last decade, the Government has launched the
Foresight Programme as well as the Futures work undertaken by the
Performance and Innovation Unit in the Cabinet Office, business has employed
consultants and attended scenario conferences in increasing numbers.
Experience in Futures work is vital but where can we obtain the
understanding of how we relate to the future and how we can deal with it?
Since 1996 Leeds Metropolitan University has offered the MA in Foresight and
Futures Studies, a interdisciplinary course which explores the issues raised
by the future and our attempts to deal with it. For information go to
