Radio arrives at the home of the British Army

Garrison Radio, the Army's independent radio service provider, has launched 
a new radio station in Aldershot garrison. Brigadier Richard Morris, 
Commander of 145 (Home Counties) Brigade, officially opened the new studios 
at Middle Hill, an MoD Housing Estate. The station is broadcasting on 107FM 
for a month before switching to its' full time frequency of 1287 am medium 
wave.

Radio Director and former Radio 1 DJ Mark Page said "It was important to 
make sure that the home of the British Army had its own station that was 
locally relevant to Aldershot 24 hours a day.  We are pleased that our 
ambitions for Aldershot Garrison have been realized".

Aldershot Garrison Radio is the fourth station to be set up at Army 
establishments nationwide. Catterick, Bulford and Colchester opened last 
year and Aldershot was the final piece in the jigsaw.

Breakfast DJ and Station Manager Richard Wyeth, a former Delta FM and Wave 
105 DJ who is fast developing his encyclopaedic knowledge of the Army said, 
"I am really looking forward to the challenge of bringing the Army to the 
fore within the town and Garrison of Aldershot and although we are 
predominantly here to entertain the Army, we will also give wider 
information regarding the locality in which we are based"
