The BBC's New Media team is looking for people between the ages of 16
and 19 to take part in a Young Reporter Scheme  to work alongside the
local Where I Live websites. Successful applicants will be given an
eight week unpaid work experience placement (2 days per week), giving
you the opportunity to learn more about the BBC and expand upon your
writing and reporting skills.

As a "reporter" you will work closely with the teams who create the
BBC's Where I Live websites (bbc.co.uk/england) and you'll be required
to work on a part -time basis between July and September 2005.

Claire McArthur, Support Manager, English Regions New Media, says: "The
young reporters will be responsible for maintaining a Blast section on
their local website. They will provide weekly updates on any aspect of
the Arts within their area.

"We are looking for reporters aged between 16 - 19 from a wide range of
local backgrounds, who feel passionate about the Arts whether it be Hip
Hop, Bhangra, Bollywood or Ballet."

The reporters will need to be based in the following areas: Birmingham,
Bristol, Bradford, Cambridge, Coventry, Cornwall (Truro), Cumbria
(Carlisle), Derby, Devon (Plymouth), Essex (Chelmsford), Gloucester,
Worcester, Jersey, Kent (Tunbridge Wells), Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool,
Lincoln, Manchester, Norfolk (Norwich), Nottingham, North Yorkshire
(York), Shropshire (Shrewsbury), Somerset (Taunton), Stoke, Suffolk
(Ipswich), Tees (Middlesbrough), South Yorkshire, Humber (Hull)

The placement will involve on the job training and a mentor will be
appointment to provide coaching.

Application forms need to be completed online and submitted by Friday
3rd June 2005. Successful candidates will then be invited to an informal
assessment.
