I am curious as to what CMA members make of Channel 4's "4radio"
project, with its strap-line "Welcome to the Community" and its attempts
to place itself in community media territory while it bids for a multiplex.
My opinion, which is admittedly not yet well-informed, is that it is
largely desperate and risible. The on-line feature articles (including
one about Resonance) seem like advertorial subtly designed to display a
healthy interest in grass roots and user-led content. Anyone got an
overview of this they care to share through the list or privately?
I keep in reserve details of a telling correspondence from the people
behind "The Radio Plays The Thing," whose poster and on-line campaign
used an image of a live drama realised at Resonance, without our
permission or even casual consultation - symptomatic to my mind of
4Radio's pick-&-choose attitude.
