Hi, I have played with tons and tons of automation software packages and
there are some great packages out there.

For Salford City Radio, we have just purchased Myriad
(http://www.psquared.co.uk/), which is well renowned as the industry
leader in its price range and they  offer fantastic discounts for
community radio groups. However, this is still £5k.

Working with a tight budget is the name of the game at Ribble Valley
Radio where we use OTS DJ. This programme is amazingly versatile and it
only costs a couple of hundred pounds. Go to http://otsdj.com/ and
download the demo.  This is great for playout purposes on overnights
etc, but not fantastic for using in live programming as it is rather
complicated.
