Friends:

I was indeed shocked when I heard of the stand taken by the Royal Society.
I have heard from two Fellows of the Royal Society that they were not
consulted before the RS made the public announcement. Fellows of the
Society who think that open access is good for science should write to the
President of the Royal Society and request him to issue another statement
stating that the view expressed earlier is not shared by a majority of the
Fellows.
