Hi all,

Much thanks for the sharing at the trainers debriefing today. Just
wanted to make notes of some of the observations the trainers made on
participation in each track which I feel is really wonderful to hear.
These are just notes but I think the actual "voices" of the trainers
would be good. So if you could re-write it and send it back to me as you
observed it, in your own unique ways of expression :o) that would be great!

Please also let me know if I missed anything in these notes.

Much thanks,

Angela

------------------------------------

General
Participants are very keen to learn, and very understanding when
glitches happen.

Video
The group had a very good discussion on feminist practices of technology
on Day 1, and this came through in the hands-on activities the
participants were doing and the questions they were asking on Day 2. It
was really good to see this happen.

Participants would have little smiles on their faces as they worked on
their videos.

Mobile Wireless
Participants wanted to use Frontline SMS during the AWID Forum to
continue networking with each other. When informed that APC may not have
the budget to provide credit, participants were still adamant about
doing this, and wanted APC to find the money and were willing to even
put in their own money.

[NOTE: There are some good blog comments coming through from the
participants of the mobile wireless track]

Social Networking
Participants were no longer in just publishing content through blogs and
other online platforms, but were increasingly interested and demanding
to know how to develop websites and to use CMS.

Digital Storytelling
Generally, participants were enjoying the day, refusing to stop for
breaks and lunch and dinner to be able to finish their stories.

(refer to feedback for the day)
One participant said from Fiji said, "Fascinating what you can do with
it, I can?t wait to do it on my own, and share it." [Jan's observation
of this participant, "Everytime I showed her how to do something, she
would just beam"]
Another from Papua New Guinea said, "I always thought that you need a
degree to do this, but YES, I can do this!"

Audio
The participant who only spoke Spanish and no other language said that
she felt an unlimited sense of solidarity, that participants were always
doing their best to understand her. [This speaks a lot about the type of
participants we have] (refer to short interview Dafne did with her,
separate file)

Trainers
Ita said, "The first time I first met with some people from APC was in
Mexico, during the Know How conference and after that, I was very
encouraged and glad to be invited to come here and meet everyone and to be
part of the training on Digital Story Telling, but I'm also learning.
And that's very important
to me. And I'm very glad to have the opportunity to come and learn while
I train. [Note: Ita or others, please let me know if I've gone off
tangent on this]
