Hi all,
Very sorry that I don't have time to get into this interesting exchange of
views. Rony, the only thing we agreed upon in the MC referring to state
media was: "transform state-controlled media into editorially independent
organizations"
Nobody spoke about privatizations. The whole part concerning this point
was (just to remember everone):
Legislation to ensure the participation of all in the information society
should:
a. promote and defend the existence and development of free and
independent media,
b. encourage pluralism and diversity of media ownership and avoid
excessive media concentration,
c. recognize the specific and crucial role of public service
broadcasting and community media,
d. transform state-controlled media into editorially independent
organizations.
So, clever or not, it was not agreed upon.
