Hello All,

>From a very cold Mongolia.

Thanks Rony for the speech by Shashi Tharoor. Lets hope that it was our intervention that
inspired the change between his article in the Int. Herald Tribune and this speech.

I am attaching a note from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the
Information Society in which he addresses freedom of expression.

Can we have some comment on the following questions that I want to engage in the civil
society system on........

1. Who in the Media Caucus will make it to PrepCom 3 a. Civil society participation,
especially from the south will be challenged as there is no support available. I am trying
to get there.

2. Within the Civil Society structure we need to make a bid for a media Caucus seat inside
the Summit - agree?

3. Do we want to plan a press conference to take place at the Summit> This can be arranged
in advance by the organisers. Comment?

4. Shall we submit name/s of people to speak at the Round tables? Suggestions?

5. There is a request out for input to the 'alternate' declaration being drafted as a
stand by civil society position. I have consistently let the Content and Themes group know
to use our agreed text. Do we want to work on something else that would have a home in a
more visionary declaration?

Best

Tracey Naughton
