[Media Caucus] media negotiations in Geneva

Dear Media Caucus,

Many thanks to Alain Modoux who has just let me know that yesterday he led
"informal consultations" with a group of governmental
representatives with a view to making some progress.

He distributed copies of the five regional declarations to ensure that all parties 
were appraised of existing agreements on "free, independent and pluralistic media", 
"community media", etc.) unanimously adopted by States at UNESCO.

While some representatives were more conciliatory others stood by previous positions.
He is looking at other strategies and will keep us informed. I assured him that he has 
our support at all times.

Alain also sent the Shashi Tharoor article that Rony mentioned. Its attached.
