Hello
A scheduling issue that needs our consideration has been raised with me by
Meryem Marzouki, the co-coordinator of the Human Rights Caucus.
The Human Rights Caucus is having a meeting that has been listed as
'Information Society and Human Rights' tomorrow afternoon (17th Feb.)
between 15:00 and 18:00.
Meryem informs us that the Media Caucus will want to be present to hear the
report on one of the fact finding missions to Tunisia. (The other report
will be given early next week). The said report, which will cover freedom of
expression in Tunisia, will be delivered in the final hour of the Human
Rights Caucus meeting and this conflicts with the planned first meeting of
the Media Caucus.
I seek your input into this. I have looked into re-scheduling, and booking a
room. There isn't room availability tomorrow. We could meet in the
Serpentine Bar, but this is loud and very difficult. I have tried it twice.
I don't recommend it.
If we don't meet tomorrow we may fall behind in terms of being prepared with
text to put into discussions on the main issues of the PrepCom. I am
attaching a draft agenda so you can give feedback with as many facts at hand
as possible.
I was alerted to this at 3.50pm this afternoon and have since been at the
first WSIS Press Conference. This is my first opportunity to ask you to say
how you would like to proceed.
Could those of you present in Geneva please let me know your choice of the
following options, as I see them.
1. We hold our first meeting on Friday, at the scheduled time;
2. We hold our first meeting at 1pm Thursday, in the Serpentine Café.
