Media activists everywhere should be paying some attention to
developments at the WTO.

For example:

* Do you know whether your country's trade negotiators have taken 
exceptions under GATS that would allow public investment in broadband, 
at federal, state, or municipal levels?

* Do you know whether they have taken exceptions that will allow set 
asides for noncommercial channels in the transition to digital TV and 
radio?

* Do you know whether they have taken exceptions to TRIPS that will 
allow fair use of copyrighted material to continue?

NGO REGISTRATION FOR HONG KONG
Details of how NGOs can register to attend the 6th WTO Ministerial
Conference in Hong Kong, 13 to 18 December 2005, are now available at
  https://meetings.wto.org/NGO/PreRegistration/ngohome.aspx?Language=3DE
Requests for registration must be received by 29 July 2005 (midnight,
GMT). After that date, the on-line form will be closed and requests for
registration will no longer be processed.

Acuerdo de la OMC sobre los Aspectos de los Derechos de Propiedad 
Intelectual relacionados con el Comercio) que permitirían que el uso 
adecuado de material con derechos de reproducción continúe?
