[Mmwg] suggestion - Re: run off Elections - Results

Let me make a suggestion. We need a resolution.
Voting has taken about three weeks, including the time that otherwise
might have contributed to the consultation. Less than half those in
the WG were drawn to express a position via the second ballot (a
percentage not unlike the typical US election today, a reflection
there anyway of problems with the process ...) The mmwg voting
rules, as they stand, were surely a best-effort, at the time
formulated.
Voting, unfortunately, does not always reach the aims we need.
Bertrand, in an earlier post (governance list), has noted as much.
What we really need is the emergence of a couple leaders for a task
that is not going to be easy.
Though I would like to be proven wrong, it seems unlikely that all 35
WG members will express a consensus position. Particularly when less
than half were prepared to cast even a secret ballot.
In the circumstances, the second vote is what we have.
The suggestion:
Rather than look for 35 voices to sing the same tune, let's ask
whether anyone vehemently objects to Jacqueline and Wolfgang as
co-chairs. The clock is already four days into the ten days Nitin
Desai asked for final interventions. So, picking an arbitrary time,
I suggest tomorrow Wednesday 23:59 GMT. If no one has vehemently
objected - nor vehemently objected to this process - then Jacqueline
and Wolfgang are co-chairs. They have plenty to do. No explicit
step is necessary.
Obviously, as my earlier post shows, personally I had already reached
this conclusion.
On-going expressions of support, for the two, in the meantime,
further cement their position.
It would also be nice for me to be proven wrong and to see all 35
members come forward with affirmation, in that time frame. The more
who come forward, the stronger the sendoff for our new leaders. We
can give not only them, but ourselves, this good thing.
