ok, seems a good idea.  and especially as we now have some worthy  
nominees.

how about 1 more day - specifically:
     deadline for nominations is Wednesday (25 Jan) midnight anywhere.

hopefully we can decide by consensus before Monday (30 Jan).   
Otherwise we should vote during the 48 hour period 30 Jan-1 Feb.

since we don't have electronic voting setup, the best i can suggest  
is that i would collect votes and keep them private/confidential.   
other suggestions or someone's favorite confidential trusted agent  
welcome. or maybe someone knows of voting software we can setup/use.

though if we can reach consensus, that is best.
