Did we decide at some point to have chairs instead in the mmwg, or is this thread just mis-labled?</SPAN></FONT></SPAN></SPAN></BLOCKQUOTE></DIV><BR></DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>i called them chairs when i wrote the charter. and that is still the current wording.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>one of the problems we have/had in the IGC is that the role of the coordinator was never clear and never really empowered by the group. we had the perpetual undercurrent discussion of weak or strong. in writing the charter i was looking for a middle path where the chairs should feel empowered to carry the decisions of the WG without necessarily coming back to the group every time they wanted to state an opinion. they are also in the position to call for votes when the discussion comes to a stand still. and have authority over netiquette. so i think they are somewhat more then coordinators.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>this was part of the idea in terms of having them both elected and having a procedure for dumping them if they spoke in a way the membership found objectionable.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>of course this is only my original conception and the charter says what it says as understood by us all collectively. and we can change it is that is the thing we want to do.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>a.</DIV></BODY></HTML>
