Just a slight grammar issue: surely “exploitation from third parties” should
read “ exploitation BY third parties.

Regards,

Rui

Subject: [WSIS CS-Plenary] Amendment by Indigenous Caucus

Dear Drafting Group,

I'm sending the proposal of Indigenous Caucus on behalf of Ann-Hristin
Hakansson for the CS Statement Paragraph III, Access to Knowledge and the
Public Domain. Please be so kind not to delete or forget it again.

Indigenous cultures provide for rules and regulations on communicating,
sharing, using and applying traditional knowledge. WSIS has failed to
protect the Traditional Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples from exploitation
from third parties, leaving Indigenous Peoples helpless as this knowledge,
lore and culture in the information society is copyrighted and patented by
others with no benefits to the rightful owners of that knowledge.

Kind Regards,

Sari Miettinen
