<DIV><BR><SPAN>In 1977, the United Nations adopted a resolution inviting countries to dedicate one day of the year to recognise the rights of women. Since that time, the 8<SUP>th</SUP> of March has become a time to celebrate International Women’s Day worldwide, initiated by the UN’s observation of this date. This day highlights progress that women have made in the struggle for equality and provides an opportunity to unite and mobilise for meaningful change despite ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences. </SPAN></DIV>
