This is really bad, and we should take a quick and strong
action to request that this decision is reversed, and also
suggest the serious negative consequence.

In the meantime, there was a Thematic conference in
Korea under the title of

"Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Bridging
the Digital Divide", co-organized by the Ministry of Information
&
Communication of Korea(MIC) and International Telecommunication
Union(ITU, just held June 23-24,

but neither Korean or Asian civil society members who have
participated in the past WSIS meetings both in Geneva and
Asia Pacific places have not been informed and invited
to the preparation and execution of this meeting at all.

As a consequence, Korean NGOs have released a
strong statement expressing their concerns. Below is a partial
quote and I will send the whole message separately.
Similar case happened at the Tehran meeting as I already
reported and may have happened at many other regional and
thematic meetings.

I think it is time for us to consider this very very seriously
and express that to both Government bureau and ITU/ES.

izumi

"we should express deep concern on the fact that this WSIS
Thematic Meeting had never been publicly informed to all member
organizations of WSIS Korea Forum. Also, there had been no discussion
or
consultation on its topic with civil society beforehand for this
event.
As a result, this event has been solely prepared by the MIC and KADO.
We
are deeply worried at this unilateral preparation process.

In spite of what was proposed by President Karklins, during the GFC

Civil Society observers to attend the next GFC meetings (27 June, 4
