I am a PhD Student in University of Tsukuba Japan
(<a href="http://www.tsukuba.ac.jp/eng/edu_college.html" eudora="autourl">http://www.tsukuba.ac.jp/eng/edu_college.html</a>).
My area of interest is in the application of eLearning in Asia -
particularly in the field of sustainable development and agriculture.
This stems from more than a decade of work with various international and
regional organizations involved in educating agricultural professionals,
educators and farmers in Asia using both traditional and technologically
enhanced methodologies.<br><br>
My professional experience has convinced me that eLearning is an
effective teaching mechanism and has great potential to bridge the gap
between what is known in agricultural laboratories and research stations
and what is actually being applied in the field. What is not clear to me
at this stage is why eLearning has not been adopted on a wider scale by
development organizations and universities in Asia.<br><br>
This is the purpose of my attached survey. In addition to reviewing
published information about the known barriers to eLearning
implementation and utilization, I would like to get first-hand accounts
of the challenges that you face in taking advantage of this educational
approach. I am interested in learning from the experiences of a
wide range of institutions and organizations who have learning programmes
supporting agriculture as well as other professional fields.<br><br>
My questionnaire is in the attached MS Word file and contains
instructions on how it should be handled, filled out and sent back to me
as an email attachment. The information that you will share will
help provide a basis for understanding how eLearning can be applied to
support sustainable development in Asia.<br><br>
I am engaged in this research under the supervision of Dr. Seishi
