Civic Bangladesh, a civil society organization (CSO) working to advance
democracy and democratic governance in Bangladesh through civic education
and engagement, is going to organize a half-day workshop entitled
"Dignity and Development" from 2 pm to 5 pm on 18 December 2007
in the conference lounge of National Press Club, Topkhana Road,
Dhaka.<br>

</font><h2><b>Overall Objective </b></h2><font size=3>To share views on
DIGNITY as a crucial issue of development concern and explore how it
could fit well in the development paradigm.<br>
<br><br>
<br><br>
</font><h2><b>Specific Objectives </b></h2><font size=3>The
specific objectives of the workshop are to:<br>
-Initiate issue-based thematic discussions about dignity as an issue of
development concern;<br>
-Facilitate the experiential interaction among the participants and
exchange information, views, and concerns; <br>
-Understand its linkage to empowerment, equality, peace, diversity,
pluralism, cohesiveness, tolerance, etc, as dimensions of social and
political development; and to <br>
-Develop strategic direction towards integration into the right-based
approach to development. <br>

</font><h2><b>Thematic Issues of Concern</b></h2><font size=3>The
workshop will facilitate issue-based thematic discussion on the
following:<br>
-disability and dignity;<br>
-ethnicity and dignity;<br>
-poverty and dignity;<br>
-gender and dignity;<br>
-governance and dignity; and<br>
-ICT4D and dignity, Commons and Communication Right<br>
-Reclaiming ICT to end Violence Against Women(VAW) <br>

</font><h2><b>Outcome </b></h2><font size=3>The workshop outcomes will be
fed into a campaign launched by Bangladesh Dignity Forum, an advocacy
wing of Civic Bangladesh. The Forum is currently waging a Dignity
Movement in Bangladesh and engaged in the global networks campaigning on
equal dignity for all.<br>

</font><h2><b>Participants</b></h2><font size=3>The workshop calls for
the participation of individuals representing the civil society
organizations (CSOs), such as the NGOs, the CBOs, academic/research
institutions, elected representatives, women, ethnic minorities,
students, lawyers, physicians, etc. A number of 50 participations can be
accommodated in the workshop.<br>
