<p>From December 11–13, 2007, nearly 2000 innovators, development practitioners, and policy makers will convene at the Kuala Lumpur Conference Center in Malaysia for the <a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://www.gkpeventsonthefuture.org/GK3/" target="_blank">
3rd Global Knowledge Conference (GK3)</a>. GK3 provides a discussion forum to exchange knowledge and views on issues related to Knowledge for Development (K4D) and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D). The GK3 theme is "Emerging People, Emerging Markets, Emerging Technologies".

<p>On Tuesday, December 11, <i>info</i>Dev is hosting two parallel sessions on the <a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://www.gkpeventsonthefuture.org/GK3/dsp_page.cfm?pageid=671" target="_blank">
Emerging Markets</a> track, entitled "Supporting ICT Innovators: Policies, Strategies, and Tools". </p>
<p>In our first session "Creating an Ecosystem for Innovation and Entrepreneurship: From Policy to Reality" policy makers from Brazil, Chile, India and South Africa will discuss the importance of their national innovation policies and the role of business incubation in national innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. They will also address some of the key policy constraints to successful ICT-enabled innovation and entrepreneurship, including ICT infrastructure and skills, financing, and R&D, along with the importance of promoting a strong culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.
</p>
<p>During our second session, "Growing Businesses - Supporting Mechanisms", five representatives from China, Chile, Philippines and Uruguay, will discuss what support mechanisms are necessary for nurturing entrepreneurs, including business incubation and capacity building. Entrepreneurs and business incubator managers will discuss the role of business incubation is in facilitating innovation and entrepreneurship and the impact that they are achieving.
<br><br>The <i>info</i>Dev team looks forward to participating in this event and engaging in discussions with the many ICT4D experts that will convene at the GK3 Forum in Kuala Lumpur.</p>
