<P><FONT size=2>On 10-12 June 2009, Ministers, policymakers, business
leaders, and innovators in the field of information and communication
technologies for development from </FONT><FONT size=2>around
the world will converge in Monterrey, Mexico for the Annual Meetings of
the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UNDESA-GAID). </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>The Annual Meetings will be jointly organized by GAID, the
Government of Mexico, and Indigo Media. The Global Alliance for ICT and
Development of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social
Affairs is the principal platform within the United Nations system for
policy dialogue and collaborative partnerships among all stakeholders on
the strategic use of ICT for achieving the internationally agreed
development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

<P><FONT size=2>The event in Monterrey will bring together IT leaders and
the development community under the umbrella of the Global Alliance for a
focused dialogue on emerging issues and challenges in the field of ICT for
development, particularly in the areas of Education and Innovation, and
foster cooperation among governments, private sector and civil society.
