the the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) will hold
Open Consultations on Financial Mechanisms for Meeting the Challenges of
ICT for Development, to be held on 8-9 October 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland.
This meeting is organized jointly by UNGIS chair and co-chairs, i.e. ITU,
UNCTAD, UNESCO, UNDP, UNECA and hosted by the ITU. </font><font size=3>

Pursuant to ECOSOC resolution 2008/3 which called for UNGIS to organise
this consultations, the meeting will provide an opportunity for an interactive
multi-stakeholder dialogue on matters related to the implementation of
part B of the Tunis Agenda, i.e. Financial Mechanisms for Meeting the Challenges
of ICT for Development. The meeting will be open to representatives from
government and international organizations as well as from civil society
and the private sector. No accreditation is needed (similar to the meetings
during the WSIS Forum week)</font><font size=3><br>

the invitation letter. Registration is free of cost. <b>Be
reminded that the meeting takes place at PALEXPO</b> (the Geneva Exposition
Center near the Airport, where the WSIS Geneva Summit took place in 2003),
during the last two days of the ITU TELECOM World (5 to 9 October 2009,
see http://www.itu.int/WORLD2009/ ). </font>

<br><font size=2 face="sans-serif">There is no need to be registered for
TELECOM World to participate in the Open Consultations. But as both events
are taking place at the same premises, you will need a badge to enter
PALEXPO, therefore please register through the link on the UNGIS website
mentioned above. ITU may offer participants at the UNGIS Open Consultations
the possibility to visit the Telecom World Exhibition at a reduced rate
or free of cost. The decision on reduced rates or free access to the exhibition
is still pending, and we shall inform you (through this mailing list) as
soon as ITU has taken a decision. </font>
