Garstka from IWGDPT just called me:

His staff person who is taking care of the IWGDPT is currently on parental
leave for a few weeks, and Garstka is retiring soon. Alexander Dix (DP
Commissioner of Brandenburg, the German state around Berlin) will follow
him as chair of the group. We agreed to have a meeting in May with all
three of them. They have tried to "get into the WSIS" in the first phase,
he told me, but without much success. Maybe they thought just writing
letters would be enoungh. Anyway, they are interested in closer
cooperation with our group. He also also was interested in the upcoming
Cybersecurity meeting.

This is certainly something I will suggest. Any volunteers?
Frannie and Gus, what about EPIC's and PI's contacts with them? Did you
have any in the past?

Personal thought: Should we also invite one liaison person (probably the
working level staffer) of IWGDPT to this group? As they are not exactly
civil society, but government watchdogs / ombudspersons, I am not sure
what the rest of this group thinks about it. Any thoughts?

Ralf
