hi ralf
>>I will have a meeting with the new Berlin Data Protection Commissioner
>>Alexander Dix on Monday. He is also chairman of the International Working
>>Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications (also called "Berlin
>>Group"), which had given input to the WGIG in April (you will remember
>>our short exchange about it this list).
>>
>>Is there anything you want to suggest I should discuss with him?
>>
>>My points so far are
>>
>>- cooperation on WGIG follow-up (please help with concrete ideas here!)
- we need to come up with specific proposals on WHOIS - i know it's a very
narrow issue, but law enforcement were in full force at the GAC (government
advisory committee) on this
i spoke with the chair of the GAC and Sidse Aegidius (not sure how you
write those first two letters of surname in english?) about the openness of
the GAC to inviting CS expertise to their closed meetings. They were both
enthusiastic (denmark more so of course) and the next ICANN meeting will
see the GAC with a similar meeting on cybersecurity, so, we should plan to
have people there for that (vancouver, late nov/early dec)
below is the NCUC (non commercial users constituency) proposal on WHOIS -
maybe you could share it with him and see what he thinks of it? but - hmm
- has to be in today - maybe then people on this list could have a quick
look.. i think it's pretty good but not my area of expertise (appended below)
but in addition to WHOIS, we need to develop proposals on data protection
in relation to larger network 'security and stability' issues (which
includes, i'm afraid, 'cybercrime')
>>- possible side event together with our group at PrepCom3
yes - we should organise one..
>>- cooperation between us NGO people and the Berlin Group (Gus had
>>expressed his interest of maybe joining the Berlin Group, are there more
>>people interested?)
>>
>>- what else?
the danish government are holding a WSIS internet governance prep meeting
on sep 14th - i wonder if we shouldn't invite him there? (well, the danish
would have to invite - rikke, what do you think?) - it would be a good
chance to get more government support for our proposals..
