HRIA is the big buzz word w regard to HR and private parties, and has been for some time. My institute has a huge project on it (led by an american researcher and probably one of the most advanced in this field). they have also been to Canada to tell about the experiences to R&D. privacy is included in our setup, and information is avaible on our website www.humanrights.dk (under HR and Business).
To be frank, i have mixed feelings about the metholodology and approach, but i am of course following it and also conscious that it might be usefull in a more general stocktacking framework,
Rikke

Emne: [Privsec] Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA)
From another list (from the Incommunicado conference), thanks to Robert
Guerra:
"Rights & Democracy has launched the Human Rights Impact Assessment
(HRIA), an initiative that seeks to develop a practical methodology for
assessing a business venture's impact on human rights in developing
countries before the ground is broken and operations begin. The project's
working methodology is based on the UN Human Rights Norms for Business."
Does anyone know if this includes a privacy dimension?
I could not find anything about the HRIA on their webisite
(http://www.dd-rd.ca/frame2.iphtml?langue=0).
Would be nice to cooperate here and relate this to the WSIS stocktaking
and indexing efforts.
Ralf
