Gus:
I definitely would suggest EPIC and PI sending a request for copies
of the documents. Let's see how they answer. I can go through the
business cards I collected from DoJ and send you who to send the
request to.
All i can say is that your comments were raised on wed. by several
people at the meeting (the most vocal being Peter Hope-Tindal , and
to a lesser extent myself). They think that by limited the
distribution to paper form - it will be harder, if not impossible for
the documents to circulate.
They haven't made us sign non disclosure agreements - as such, i
can't see why we can't use modern photocopiers that scan documents
and mail them to you as pdf's...
If I recall correctly the DoJ officials responded with the line that
they wanted to know where the documents had been sent. They said we
could pass the documents on to colleagues, but with the proviso we
let them know .
When pressed - they mentioned something along the lines that - this
wasn't an "open public consultation" as was the case at the first
meeting, but something more focused with key stakeholders that had
asked to be keep informed of developments.
My personal view is that their policy isn't quite set finalized yet ,
they are open to changes - that's a good thing. Not as open as we'd
like, that's for sure. Do we push them to open the process more,
engage them on the substance of their proposals , or both ... that's
something to discuss.
regards
Robert
