[Privsec] 2006 World Conference of Data Protection Commissioners: The winner is - Vienna!

Hi all,

as you have heard, the Argentinian DP Authority has cancelled hosting the
annual global meeting of DP Commissioners and CPOs that was supposed to
take place in Buenos Aires in November. Rumour says it was because of
budget constraints.

I just heard that after some discussion in the DP community, the 
conference will now take place in Vienna/Austria. A date is still to be
fixed, I think, but it will probably be (late) fall again.

This is of course sad for our Latin American friends, but good for us
Europeans. I am sure EDRi and others will again join forces to organize a
pre-event, and we will also try to make sure they again invite some civil
society people as speakers. They really tend to like us by now, I think.
