Book Launch Human Rights in the Global Information Society
Keynote on Privacy, terrorism and the new security agenda
Friday, 23 June 2006, 15:00-17:30
Danish Human Rights Institute
Strandgade 71, auditorium ground floor
1401 Copenhagen
In the book Human Rights in the Global Information Society the contributors examine the links between information technology and human rights. Scholars, human rights activists, and practitioners debate issues such as freedom of expression, access to information, privacy, discrimination, gender equality, intellectual property, political participation, and freedom of assembly in the context of information and communication technology, exploring the ways in which the information society can either advance human rights around the world or threaten them.
Please join us for a presentation of the book, published by MIT Press in the series The Information Revolution and Global Politics. The presentation will be followed by a keynote from Gus Hosein, author of the chapter on Privacy.
