Dear particpipants of the GEM Practitioners Exchange,
You have been subscribed to a mailing list that will serve to information
exchange prior to the events in Rio de Janeiro.
You have already received the welcome message where you can find all details
regarding your subscription. To post to the list, please use:
rio-gem at apcwomen.org.
Enlosed please find the agenda of the three days GEM workshop - GEM
Practitioners Exchange.
In the agenda, you can notice the session of "show and tell". It is meant to
be a space for you to be showing and telling the group about
products/outputs that you have produced in your evaluation.
The second day is dedicated to sharing the testing findings and results and
we will be working in groups. Please prepare yourselves to present lessons
and findings that you would like to share with other colleague-testers and
the GEM team. The group work aims at discussing the gender issues in ICT
initiatives that have been revealed during the testing process vis-a-vis
different types of initiatives. The results of the various evaluation will
be discussed in relation to gender roles and gender relations, women's
empowerment, issues of discrimination, and other gender equality concepts.
As for the rest of the agenda, we are kindly asking you to take a look at
all the themes and consider presenting in any of these sessions. Please
choose a theme into which you would like to contribute according to your
preference and professional interests, evaluation goals etc.
If you decide to make such presentation, it should be about 10-15 minute
long and you can design it in a form you feel is best for you and the
audience. Just please make sure that the specific theme is addressed.
During the workshop, we plan to have a place where you can put up
"mini-exhibits" of your projects, so please bring materials to show, photos
we can upload on the web site and other materials of use for a showcase.
After the GEM Practitioners Exchange during the Forum that follows (you will
get the agenda outline for the Forum soon), there will be another
opportunity to present your results (on a slightly different level) focusing
on the critical challenges in integrating a gender perspective in the ICT
field and presenting solutions and alternatives to current problems.
On behalf of the GEM team,
with my best wishes,
Lenka Simerska
GEM - Central and Eastern Europe coordinator
