Dear All
This is by way of an e-introduction to make up for my being unable to
make it from Scotland for your initial meeting. I believe Ian has
mentioned that I am exploring a collaboration on an extended project on
"world modelling". This may sound rather grand but the idea is that
sustainability as a field is as much victim of specialisation as any
other domain of human knowledge and so keeping the big picture, the
holistic view is difficult. Systems thinking, pattern thinking and
conceptual mapping methods can all help in this area. I have developed
an approach (very early days, I might add) to taking off from where the
Club of Rome seems to have left off since King and Schneider's work "The
First Global Revolution". I hope by the end of this year to have a
prototype framework which can be shared and which will serve as a kind
of holistic fishing net for correlating and referencing the many issue
focused works and findings going on. I hope it will also prove to be a
useful collaborative tool for research strategy.
I aim to be down for the lectures at the end of October and hope a run
into some of you!
best regards
Tony
