Hello everyone,

The 2005 Summit is in Canada but it is certainly not just for Canadians.
We have a number of international delegates including someone from
Russia, 4 from South America and a number of delegates from the US
(AFCN, CTCNet). We will also have the Telecentres of the Americas
Steering Committee at the summit who will be hosting a Wine and Cheese
and if there is interest, we will arrange an international roundtable on
Saturday. Telecentres of the Americas is a hemispheric network
including North and South America.
The few sessions I have listed below would be of interest to our
international delegates and most of the sessions that are planned would
be of interest to anyone working on issues around information and
communication technologies for communities.

Joint Panel on the World Summit on Information Society WSIS
International Panel
International Reception and roundtable

Communities around the world are taking advantage of the
Internet to improve people's lives. They are using new information and
communication technologies (ICTs) to help create social and economic
change in areas as diverse as health, education, culture, and democratic
engagement. But the benefits are not evenly distributed. "Digital
divides" persist between urban and rural communities, First Nations and
others.

The 2005 Summit will bring together a powerful mix of community
leaders, technology service providers, business, government,
researchers, and non-profit organizations. The diverse program will
reflect the local, regional, national, and international make up of the
organizers, presenters, and delegates. It will also reflect the
organizers commitment to provide delegates with tools that are readily
applied to local community projects.
