Hello all
We just learned that for some reason the mail with what we drafted as input
from the caucus has not reached everybody. I am very sorry - please find
what we sent to the drafting group in the attached mail.
You should (finally) all be subscribed to the mailing list, so please send
your contributions to values-ethics at wsis-cs.org
Greetings
Max

Dear All,
Hello, sorry I have not been in on all the discussions and emails that have
been going on. I have been a little out of touch with the internet world.
Actually I am still in India and will not be back in London until the 5th of
Novemeber so I may still not be so much in communication with you all.
Pratiba, thank you so much for doing the summary. It is great for me to look
one email and get an instant picture of what has been going on.
I am sorry to hear that Markus will not be attending. I spoke to him a few
days ago and at that time he seemed to be still attending. Something must
have turned up last minute.
With respect to your suggestions below. My personal preferance is option
one, but then the workshop would have to follow on from what has come out of
the first session - otherwise it may appear a bit unstructured.
Having said this I am happy with whatever you all decide to be the best
option. I have not really been avaialble to be involved in all the
discussions so I am sure whatever you all come up with will be perfect.
Ok hope to speak to you all soon.
Lots of love
Vasanti

Dear all
Have returned to the cyberworld!!
I think from my side it would be great if Laina facilitates the workshop
session since Markus will not be around. I am in agreement with the
idea of
having 2 11/2 hour sessions instead of 2 hours each session. I would
like
to suggest 2 options
Option 1
I agree with Conchita that on the panel to have 4 speakers, however
since we
have both sessions one after the other we could have a panel of the 6
speakers and then lead it into an interactive workshop. We could give
each
speaker a max of 10 minutes approx and as suggested by Conchita our
keynote
speaker could have a bit more time i.e. 15 - 20.
Option 2 We have a panel of 4 speakers and then include the other
speakers
we have in mind in the workshop session but this is really dependent on
how
we see the structure of that session. Maybe Laina could lead the
discussion
on that.
Below is the summary of all proposal taking into account everyones
comments,
if I missed out on anything please add on.
TO SUMMARIZE PROPOSALS:
Title of the 1 1/2-hour Session:
Theme : Building a Culture of Peace in the Information Society.
I. Panel Session
Keynote Speaker: Alfredo Sfeir Younis ( Alfredo has confirmed as
communicated by Conchita)
Moderator: Shaila Mistry
OPTION ONE
Panellists:
1.Conchita Poncini (IFUW) Past President of the NGO Committee on the
Status
of Women) "ICTs: Women's Vision of Peace for the 21st Century.";
2.CEO from business entity (Baha'i) on "Corporate Responsibility"
Daniel
Schauberger from EBBF
3.Brahma Kumaris " The Role of Spirituality in the Information Society"
/
Shaila's suggestion (How Ethics and Values and spirituality can be
integrated into the work and life and in practical living with
relevence to
the information society)
4. The Role of the Media in Building a Culture of Peace and Equality
(Celia
Wexler, Vice President for Advocacy at Common Cause)
5. A young persons perspective ( Max Senges )
II. Workshop Session 1 1/2 hour:
Facilitator: Laina
OPTION TWO
l.Panellists:
1.Conchita Poncini (IFUW) Past President of the NGO Committee on the
Status
of Women) "ICTs: Women's Vision of Peace for the 21st Century.";
II. Workshop Session:
Facilitator: Laina
4. The Role of the Media in Building a Culture of Peace and Equality
(Celia
Wexler, Vice President for Advocacy at Common Cause)
5. A young persons perspective ( Max Senges )
Once we have decided on the structure I think we woulld be great if all
speakers could confirm their topic so that I could draft a flyer for the
event which we could post to various caucus's to advertise it.
Warm regards to all and have a great weekend.
Pratiba

Dear Markus,
Oops! Sorry, did not see the part where you said you will not be
attending
at all!! What a shame! I am so sad to hear this. Could have used your
spirit
there!!
Sure, I don't mind being facilitator if the others agree. Perhaps Chris
or
Valeriane could also step in on your behalf and we could do this
together?
Still would like your input though, so let's keep talking!!!
Regards,
Laina

Dear Markus,
Glad to finally have you back online. Really looking forward to having
some
laughs together again!
Meanwhile, thought I would just note for you, that I don't think the
rest
agreed to my co-facilitating the session with you. I had offered it that
is
all. So far, the only agreement was that you would facilitate the
workshop.
How about I assist you instead. Perhaps we can take this offline and see
what we can come up with although I think as the others agreed to your
facilitation, why don't we leave you as the facilitator. I have no
problems
with this as I know you will do a great job!!
Looking forward to working with you on this.
Best,
Laina

27 November
Dear All
My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. After returning from
India
I have had to deal with several business obligations - the consequence
of
this being that I am now not able to attend the summit.
Since Laina would have co-facilitated the session with me, I would like
to
ask her to take over that responsibility for me. I am still happy to
assist
her with formulating the process should that still be required.
Kind regards
Markus

Hi Laina and all,
I do agree about consultations and proposals but I just thought we
should
give Pratiba a chance to react before proposing something new again.l I
do
agree with Shaila that once we have given our proposals that we should
wait
for feed back. I am stilll awaiting your reaction Laina to my
suggestion
that if you wish to speak in the Panel that I am willing to withdraw.
All the best and always in solidarity with you all Conchita
