<p><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>In 2002-2004, the Gender and Water
Alliance will publish three reports</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>on gender and water/sanitation
to advocate that governments make the</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>water sector more effective and
socially equitable.</font></font>
<p><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>The first report will give an overview
and analysis of gender</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>perspectives in country policies,
legal and institutional frameworks. It</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>will be published in December 2002
and presented at the World Water</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>Forum in Tokyo in March 2003. IRC,
International Water and Sanitation</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>Centre is coordinating the part
on drinking water supply and sanitation.</font></font>
<p><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>You can join in this activity by
analyzing one or more of your country's</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>(or any other country's) official
documents on the roles, duties and</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>rights of women, or women and men.
The analysis consists of filling in a</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>list of seven characteristics in
a pre-designed format and sending this</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>to IRC together with the full title
of the document and copies (either</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>hard copies or typed into e-mail)
of the pages on which you have based</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>your analysis. The documents should
be the latest (most recent) policy</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>documents. If the texts are not
in English, French or Spanish, a</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>translation has also to be sent.
To avoid overlap, every participant</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>should first send the name of the
country and the title of the document</font></font>
<br><font color="#000000"><font size=-1>to the IRC coordinator, Ingeborg
