Roger,

You've probably had this response already ...

We too are great fans of the Denon portable MD at Staffordshire Uni - 
they continue to serve us well after 4 years hard use. But sadly Denon 
no longer make them. So we've been forced to supplement with Sharps ( 
though they do keep changing their models and sizes with alarming 
regularity).

However in the studio the Denon M991R player/recorder is good value for 
money. It's basically an advanced cart machine based on MD. The 
students find them easy to use and they save us networking their 
prerecorded work from computers and all the disk space that would tie 
up with so many users.
