CSV Make a Difference Day is now in its tenth year and we are
expecting 100,000 people to volunteer in around 5,000 activities on
this day. MD Day is taking place on Saturday 29 October, but
activities can also take place a week either side of this date. The
day is open to anyone, including individuals, voluntary
organisations, schools, companies and youth groups.
MD Day is a fantastic opportunity for arts organisations, like
community media outlets, to gain publicity, build new partnerships
with otherorganisations and to attract new volunteers and supporters.
It is a chance to raise the profile of community media initiatives,
78% of projects who took part in last year's MD Day received media
coverage in their local newspaper, radio or television station. It is
also a great time to reward and thank existing supporters and engage
with different areas of the community and ensure skills are shared
with new people.
Possible activities to enable groups to get involved are extensive,
local groups could have an open day providing a taster of their work,
or run a workshop to reach out to new people and help them learn and
develop new skills. Any group who decides to organise an activity
will receive a free Action Pack which contains helpful information on
organising an event, advice on getting press coverage, t-shirts,
thank you certificates for volunteers who come along and more!
CSV MD Day provides a perfect opportunity to enable local radio,
television and internet projects around the country to be part of a
large-scale nationwide event and to try and develop partnerships and
enable skill sharing amongst communities.

find plenty of more information about CSV Make a Difference Day, as
well as examples of past activities.
